Products & Ingredients

About our blends, ingredients, and what makes them special

What makes Herbal Cup Tea different from other tea brands?

We started Herbal Cup Tea with one simple idea: to bring the Ayurvedic blends our family has cherished for generations to your kitchen table.

Every blend is USDA-certified organic, crafted with herbalists and Ayurvedic practitioners, and blended right here in our California facility. We use compostable Abaca hemp tea bags because we believe that what you put in your cup should be as pure as what you put in your heart.

What is the difference between your herbal teas and your black/green teas?

Our Ayurvedic herbal teas (such as Turmeric Ginger, Anti-Stress, Chamomile, Detoxify, and Women's blend) are naturally caffeine-free and crafted for specific wellness rituals.

Our black teas (Cinnamon Vanilla, Pumpkin Spice, Cranberry varieties) do contain caffeine, as do our green teas and matcha blends. Each product page lists whether the tea is caffeine-free.

Which blend should I choose for my needs?

Here's a quick guide based on what you're looking for:

  • Warm & spicy: Turmeric Ginger & Black Pepper — our #1 best seller
  • Calming evening ritual: Anti-Stress (chamomile & ashwagandha)
  • Bedtime wind-down: Bednite (chamomile, valerian, hibiscus, mint)
  • After-meal comfort: Digestion blend (fennel, coriander, mint, ginger)
  • Seasonal favorites: Elderberry Rosehips Hibiscus or Cold & Flu Fighter
  • Morning boost: Maca Ashwagandha or Matcha blends
  • Crafted for women: Women's blend (shatavari, raspberry leaf, ashwagandha)
  • Everyday favorite: Cinnamon Moringa
How are your ingredients selected and listed?

Every ingredient is chosen the way our family has always done it — by knowing the plant, trusting the source, and respecting the tradition behind it. Each herb and spice is USDA-certified organic, and we list them in order of weight on every box.

Our blends are whole-herb formulas, not extracts. We work with Ayurvedic practitioners to balance each recipe for flavor and tradition. Curious about a specific blend? Write to us at info@herbalcuptea.com.

Brewing & Preparation

Tips from our team and thousands of tea lovers

How should I brew Herbal Cup Tea for the best flavor?

Brewing tea is a small ritual — treat it like one. Boil fresh water, pour it over your tea bag, and give it 5–7 minutes to open up. The herbs need that time to share their full flavor with you.

Want a stronger cup? Use two bags, or steep for 10+ minutes — herbal teas only get richer with patience. And gently press the bag with a spoon before you remove it. That last squeeze is where the magic lives.

Can I make iced tea with your blends?

Absolutely! Steep two tea bags in 8 oz of hot water for 10 minutes, then pour over a full glass of ice. Our Rosehips Hibiscus and Elderberry blends make especially refreshing iced teas.

Some customers also make sun tea by placing bags in a glass jar of water in sunlight for several hours.

What do customers recommend adding to the tea?

The most popular additions are:

  • Honey — the #1 add-in across all our blends
  • Fresh lemon — great with Turmeric Ginger
  • Milk or cream — especially with Cinnamon Moringa (customers call it "my holy grail")
  • Agave syrup — a popular vegan sweetener option

Our Rosehips Hibiscus has a natural sweetness and is delicious on its own.

How can I customize my perfect cup?

Our community loves experimenting! Here are their favorite ways to make each cup uniquely yours:

  • Use two tea bags per cup for a richer, bolder brew
  • Steep for 10+ minutes — herbal teas only get better with time
  • Gently press the tea bag with a spoon to release extra flavor
  • Cover your mug while steeping to lock in the essential oils and aroma

Health & Wellness

Ayurvedic tradition, ingredients, and your daily ritual

Who formulates your tea blends?

Our family has studied Ayurvedic tradition for decades. Every blend is a collaboration between our family's knowledge, experienced herbalists, and Ayurvedic practitioners who share our respect for these plants.

Take our Turmeric Ginger & Black Pepper — it follows a combination that Ayurvedic families have used for centuries. We didn't invent it. We simply honored it, and thousands of customers have made it part of their daily ritual.

Are your herbal teas caffeine-free?

All of our Ayurvedic herbal blends — Turmeric Ginger, Anti-Stress, Chamomile, Detoxify, Women's, Bednite, Cold & Flu Fighter, and Digestion — are naturally caffeine-free.

However, our Black Tea varieties (Cinnamon Vanilla, Pumpkin Spice, Cranberry blends), Green Teas, and Matcha blends do contain caffeine. Check each product page for details.

Can I enjoy your teas during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

Many of our customers enjoy our teas during pregnancy and breastfeeding. We always recommend chatting with your healthcare provider first — they can guide you to the perfect blends for your journey.

Certifications & Quality

Our standards, sourcing, and what we guarantee

What certifications do your teas have?

All Herbal Cup teas carry the following certifications:

Additionally, all our teas are gluten-free, vegan, nut-free, and contain no animal products.

Where are your teas made?

All Herbal Cup teas are blended and packaged in our facility in California. Our organic herbs, spices, and botanicals are sourced directly from trusted farms in India and Sri Lanka, where Ayurvedic traditions run deep.

Every batch is tested for purity and quality in our FDA-registered facility.

What goes into your teas — and what doesn't?

Only the good stuff. Every Herbal Cup blend is made with 100% pure, USDA-certified organic botanicals — herbs, spices, and flowers sourced directly from trusted farms.

We keep it simple: real ingredients, real flavor, real wellness. Always organic, always plant-based, always free from artificial additives, fillers, and GMOs.

Are your teas gluten-free and allergen-friendly?

Our teas are made entirely from organic herbs, spices, roots, flowers, and botanicals — 100% plant-based, the way nature created them. There is nothing added, nothing hidden.

Every blend is naturally gluten-free, vegan, and nut-free. No dairy, no soy, no eggs, no animal products. When you open a box of Herbal Cup Tea, you're holding thousands of years of Ayurvedic wisdom in plant form — and nothing else.

Sustainability & Packaging

Good for you, good for the planet

What are your tea bags made of?

Our tea bags are made from Abaca hemp, a natural plant fiber that is fully biodegradable and compostable.

They also have no metal staples — the entire tea bag can go straight into your compost bin.

Is your packaging recyclable or compostable?

Our tea bags are fully compostable (Abaca hemp, no plastic, no staples). The outer individual tea bag wrappers and the cardboard box are recyclable.

We are committed to minimizing plastic across our packaging.

What does "Good for You, Good for the Planet" mean in practice?

It's our guiding principle. "Good for you" means USDA-certified organic ingredients, herbalist-formulated Ayurvedic blends, and no artificial anything.

"Good for the planet" means plastic-free compostable tea bags, recyclable packaging, supporting small organic farmers in India and Sri Lanka, and blending locally in California to reduce our carbon footprint.

Every decision we make is guided by both your health and the health of our planet.
