This is the tea our customers reorder more than any other — and the one that made Herbal Cup famous for its Ayurvedic blends. Organic ashwagandha root from the deserts of Rajasthan, India, paired with chamomile flowers, lavender, tulsi, and a symphony of 12 calming herbs — all caffeine-free, USDA Organic, and blended in our California facility.
Why We Blend Ashwagandha with 16 Herbs
Not many people know how to use ashwagandha in a tea. Most brands drop it in as a single ingredient and call it a day. Our founder spent decades studying Ayurvedic formulation — learning which herbs bring out ashwagandha's character and which ones complement its deep, earthy warmth.
Ashwagandha is called the "king of herbs" in Ayurveda, much like ginseng in Chinese tradition. It is classified as an adaptogen — a category of botanicals with a long history of use in traditional wellness practices. Our ashwagandha is sourced from the desert of Rajasthan, India, where the dry, mineral-rich soil forces the root to grow dense and hard, absorbing minerals rather than water. The result is a potent, deeply aromatic root you can actually smell and taste in every cup.
This blend is the enhanced version of our original Anti-Stress tea. Our founder took that beloved formula — chamomile, lavender, tulsi, valerian, linden flowers — and layered in ashwagandha as the anchor. Sixteen organic herbs, working together. That's why people buy six boxes at a time.
What You'll Taste
🌿 First sip: Smooth, grounding earthiness from ashwagandha root, softened by the natural sweetness of licorice root 🌸 Mid-palate: Gentle floral notes of chamomile and lavender, with an herbaceous, slightly clove-like warmth from tulsi 🍃 Finish: A clean, refreshing lift from spearmint, with a pleasant licorice aftertaste that lingers
Tasting notes: floral · lightly sweet · earthy · warm spice · clean mint finish
Our customers' favorite add-ins:
- Honey — the natural pairing that rounds out the licorice sweetness
- A splash of warm milk — for a creamy evening ritual
- A thin slice of fresh ginger — for those who like a little warmth
How to Brew
Standard cup: Pour freshly boiled water (200-212°F) over one tea bag. Steep 5-7 minutes. Leave the tea bag in the cup for a fuller experience.
Stronger brew: Use two bags or steep 10+ minutes. Gently press the tea bag with a spoon before removing to release every last drop of herbal extract. Herbal teas never turn bitter — they only get richer.
Our founder's evening ritual: Steep one bag in boiling water for 7-10 minutes. Gently squeeze the bag. Add a drizzle of honey. Enjoy as warm as possible, 1-2 hours before bed. This is how our founder drinks it every night.
Calming ashwagandha latte: Brew one bag in a small amount of hot water (about 4 oz) for 10 minutes. Add warm oat milk or whole milk and a teaspoon of honey. Stir. A cozy, caffeine-free alternative to your evening drink.
Iced wind-down tea: Brew two bags in 8 oz of hot water for 10 minutes. Pour over ice. Add honey and a sprig of fresh mint. A surprisingly refreshing way to enjoy this blend on warm evenings.

Spearmint keeps the finish clean and refreshing. You can distinctly smell and taste the ashwagandha — earthy and aromatic.
Is this an ashwagandha tea? Yes — it's an organic ashwagandha tea. Ashwagandha root is the anchor of this caffeine-free, 16-herb Ayurvedic blend, alongside chamomile, tulsi, and lavender. If you have been looking for an ashwagandha herbal tea, this is our calming, evening wind-down cup.
Is this an ashwagandha chamomile tea? Yes — Anti-Stress is an organic ashwagandha and chamomile tea, blended with tulsi, lemongrass, lavender and licorice root. A naturally caffeine-free, calming herbal tea to sip as part of a daily wind-down ritual.
Is this tea caffeine-free? Can I drink it in the evening? Yes, this blend is naturally caffeine-free. It contains no green tea, black tea, or any caffeinated ingredients. Many of our customers enjoy it as part of their evening wind-down ritual — some drink it twice a day.
What is ashwagandha, and why is it in this tea? Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) is known as the "king of herbs" in Ayurvedic tradition, similar to ginseng's status in Chinese herbalism. It is classified as an adaptogen — a traditional botanical category. Our ashwagandha is sourced from the desert of Rajasthan, India, where the dry soil produces a dense, mineral-rich root with a deep, distinctive aroma.
How is this different from the original Anti-Stress tea? This is the enhanced version. It takes the beloved original Anti-Stress formula and adds ashwagandha root as the anchor ingredient. The ashwagandha brings a grounding, earthy depth that transforms the blend. It's the reason this became our #1 best seller.
How should I brew it for the best experience? Pour freshly boiled water over one tea bag and steep for 5-7 minutes. For a richer cup, steep longer — herbal teas only get deeper with time. Leave the bag in the cup and gently squeeze before removing. Best enjoyed as warm as possible, with honey if desired.
Founder's Note
"I have combined ashwagandha so well with these herbs — so good — that people love this tea. It is our number one seller, and that tells you everything. The ashwagandha comes from the desert of Rajasthan, where the root becomes very hard and absorbs minerals, not water. When you drink this tea, you can smell it, you can taste it. That is the difference between our blend and everyone else's." — Founder of Herbal Cup Tea
