Everybody has a detox tea — but very few have a combination like this one. Organic burdock root, dandelion root, sarsaparilla, tulsi, and warming spices like cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, and clove — twelve USDA Organic herbs blended in the Ayurvedic tradition of seasonal renewal, all caffeine-free and crafted in California.
Why We Built an Ayurvedic Detox Tea
In Ayurvedic tradition, the change of seasons is not something you just let happen to you. It is something you prepare for — a deliberate turning of the page. Every spring and every fall, there is a ritual: you slow down, you simplify, you give your body a fresh start. That is where this tea comes from.
Our founder built this blend around three herbs that have been used in traditional herbalism for centuries: burdock root, dandelion root, and sarsaparilla. These are not trendy ingredients — they are roots with deep history, the kind of botanicals your grandmother's grandmother would have recognized. And you will rarely find all three together in one cup, in this proportion, working alongside each other the way they do here.
Then there is the cinnamon. We use a generous amount of cinnamon in this blend — not as a flavoring agent, but as a core ingredient. Cinnamon has been central to Ayurvedic formulation for thousands of years, and in this tea it adds a natural warmth and sweetness that ties the whole blend together. Alongside the cinnamon, you have ginger, cardamom, clove, black pepper, lemongrass, tulsi, coriander, and licorice root — each one chosen with intention, each one organic.
This is the tea our founder recommends as part of a seasonal Ayurvedic routine. Enjoy it daily for two weeks at the start of spring or fall, then follow with lighter meals — like the traditional Ayurvedic mung bean and rice diet — as a way to reset your rhythm and welcome the new season. It is not a quick fix. It is a tradition that has been practiced for thousands of years, and this blend was designed to honor it.
What Ayurveda Detox Tea Tastes Like
🌿 First sip: Warm cinnamon sweetness meets a bright, citrusy lift from lemongrass — immediately inviting 🌰 Mid-palate: Deep, grounding earthiness from burdock and dandelion root, softened by the smooth natural sweetness of licorice root and a subtle vanilla-like note from sarsaparilla 🔥 Finish: A slow-building warmth from ginger, clove, cardamom, and black pepper — spiced and lingering, never harsh
Tasting notes: warm cinnamon · rooty earthiness · bright lemongrass · gentle spice warmth · smooth licorice sweetness
Our customers' favorite add-ins:
- Honey — rounds out the earthiness and amplifies the cinnamon warmth
- A squeeze of lemon — lifts the burdock and dandelion notes into something brighter and more refreshing
- A splash of warm oat milk — turns the spice blend into a creamy, chai-like experience
- Nothing at all — the licorice root provides a gentle natural sweetness on its own
How to Brew Ayurveda Detox Tea
Standard cup: Pour freshly boiled water (200-212°F) over one tea bag. Steep 5-7 minutes. The cinnamon and lemongrass come forward first; the deeper root notes emerge as the steep continues.
Stronger brew: Use two bags or steep 10+ minutes. Gently press the tea bag with a spoon before removing to release every last drop of herbal extract. Root herbs like burdock and dandelion only get richer and deeper with a longer steep — herbal teas never turn bitter.
Our founder's seasonal ritual: Steep one bag in boiling water for 7-10 minutes. Gently squeeze the bag. Add honey if desired. Drink it as warm as possible, first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. Our founder recommends enjoying this tea daily for two weeks at the change of seasons — spring and fall — as part of a traditional Ayurvedic renewal routine.
Spiced detox latte: Brew one bag in a small amount of hot water (about 4 oz) for 10 minutes. Add warm oat milk or whole milk. The cinnamon and cardamom become beautifully creamy — like a chai with deep herbal character.
Iced renewal tea: Brew two bags in 8 oz of hot water for 10 minutes. Let cool and pour over ice. Add honey and a lemon slice. The lemongrass shines in this format — bright, clean, and refreshing.

Ayurveda Detox Tea — FAQ
What does Ayurveda Detox Tea taste like? The flavor is warm, earthy, and gently spiced. Cinnamon leads with a natural sweetness, followed by the deep, rooty character of burdock and dandelion, a smooth vanilla-like note from sarsaparilla, and bright lemongrass. Ginger, clove, cardamom, and black pepper build a slow, lingering warmth at the finish. Licorice root keeps the whole cup smooth and naturally sweet.
Is this tea caffeine-free? Can I drink it any time of day? Yes. This is a 100% herbal blend — naturally caffeine-free, with no green tea, black tea, or any caffeinated ingredients. You can enjoy it morning, afternoon, or evening.
What makes this different from other detox teas on the market? Most detox teas rely on a single herb — usually dandelion or senna — with minimal supporting ingredients. This blend combines three traditional root herbs (burdock, dandelion, and sarsaparilla) in generous proportions, alongside a full warming spice profile of cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, clove, and black pepper. It is rooted in Ayurvedic seasonal tradition, not trends.
What is the Ayurvedic seasonal renewal tradition? In Ayurvedic tradition, the transitions between seasons — especially the shift into spring and fall — are considered important moments for renewal. The practice involves simplifying your routine, eating lighter meals, and incorporating traditional herbal preparations. This tea is designed for that seasonal ritual: our founder recommends enjoying it daily for two weeks at the change of seasons, paired with lighter eating such as the traditional Ayurvedic mung bean and rice diet.
What are burdock root, dandelion root, and sarsaparilla? These are three root herbs with centuries of use in traditional herbalism around the world. Burdock root has a deep, earthy flavor with a subtly roasted quality. Dandelion root adds a toasty, slightly bitter richness. Sarsaparilla brings a smooth, vanilla-like sweetness. Together they form the herbal backbone of this blend — you will rarely find all three in one tea, especially in this proportion.
How should I brew this tea for the best experience? Pour freshly boiled water over one tea bag and steep for 5-7 minutes. For a richer, deeper cup, steep 10+ minutes — the root herbs only get more flavorful with time. Gently squeeze the bag before removing. Best enjoyed as warm as possible. Our founder recommends drinking it first thing in the morning as part of a seasonal renewal routine.
Is this an Ayurvedic detox herb tea? Yes — this is an organic, caffeine-free detox herb tea built in the Ayurvedic tradition of seasonal renewal, with burdock root, dandelion root, sarsaparilla and warming cinnamon. It is a herbal ritual blend, not a medical product.
Founder's Note
"Everybody has a detox tea. But rarely do you find a combination like ours — a lot of burdock root, a lot of dandelion, a lot of sarsaparilla, and a lot of cinnamon. These are herbs that have been used in Ayurvedic tradition for thousands of years, especially at the change of seasons. Every spring, every fall, this is the tea I reach for. I use it for two weeks, and then I follow it with a simple mung bean and rice diet — that is the traditional Ayurvedic way. It is a seasonal ritual. It is how my teachers taught me, and it is what I pass on to you." — Founder of Herbal Cup Tea
