Ayurveda Elderberry And Echinacea Tea
Seasonal Rituals
Our elderberry echinacea tea is for herbal tea drinkers who want a cup with a real tingle: dark, fruity organic elderberry, prickly echinacea over ginger warmth, earthy tulsi and a touch of stevia leaf. It's USDA Organic, naturally caffeine-free, and brews a deep ruby-purple.
Why We Blend Elderberry and Echinacea with Ginger and Tulsi
A lot of people who know about herbs, or who grew up around herbal tradition, always want to have this tea. To them, elderberry and echinacea on one box is a familiar sight, and they expect a cup that tastes as bold as it sounds.
Echinacea has a long history in Western herbal tradition. It has been used by Native Americans for centuries, long before it became known across Europe. Elderberry has its own story — celebrated across European folk herbalism for generations. Put the two together and you have a classic pairing, one that people have been brewing at home for a very long time.
We took that pairing and built a complete tea around it. We added ginger root for warmth and spice — real organic ginger that you can feel on the palate. We added tulsi, which brings that earthy, slightly clove-like depth that rounds everything out. And we finished with a touch of stevia leaf for gentle natural sweetness. Five organic ingredients, five jobs in the cup: berry, tingle, warmth, earthiness, and a little sweetness.
The result is a bold, deeply flavored tea with a sweet-tart berry character, a prickly herbal edge from the echinacea, and real ginger warmth underneath. Drink it hot on a gray afternoon, or pour it over ice in summer.
What Elderberry Echinacea Tea Tastes Like
🫐 First sip: Sweet-tart elderberry — rich, dark, and fruity, with an intense berry depth that colors the entire cup a deep ruby-purple 🌿 Mid-palate: The unmistakable prickly, herbal "zing" of echinacea — slightly tingly on the tongue — layered with warm, spicy ginger and the earthy, clove-like character of tulsi ✨ Finish: A gentle natural sweetness from stevia, a lingering ginger warmth, and a clean, slightly tart close that invites the next sip
Tasting notes: dark berry sweetness · tart elderberry depth · prickly echinacea zing · warm ginger spice · earthy tulsi · clean sweet finish
Our customers' favorite add-ins:
- Honey — deepens the berry sweetness and softens the echinacea tingle
- A squeeze of lemon — brightens the tartness and adds a citrus lift
- A thin slice of fresh ginger — doubles down on the warming spice
- Nothing at all — the stevia leaf already provides a gentle natural sweetness, and the elderberry carries its own rich flavor
How to Brew Elderberry & Echinacea Tea
Standard cup: Pour freshly boiled water (200-212°F) over one tea bag. Steep 5-7 minutes. The elderberry color blooms immediately — deep ruby-purple — while the echinacea and ginger develop as the steep continues. Leave the bag in for a fuller, bolder experience.
Stronger brew: Use two bags or steep 10+ minutes. Gently press the tea bag with a spoon before removing to extract every last bit. This blend only gets deeper, richer, and more berry-forward with a longer steep.
The way our founder drinks it: Steep one bag in boiling water for 7-10 minutes. Gently squeeze the bag. Let it cool just enough to sip comfortably, then drink it hot. Add honey if you like, but try it plain first. This is a tea with real presence in the cup. You will feel the ginger warmth and the echinacea tingle from the very first sip.
Iced elderberry refresher: Brew two bags in a small amount of hot water (about 4 oz) for 10 minutes. Let cool. Pour over ice. Add honey and a lemon slice. The elderberry becomes crisp, bright, and beautifully tart — a stunning deep-purple iced tea that looks as bold as it tastes.

Elderberry and Echinacea Tea — FAQ
What does elderberry echinacea tea taste like? The flavor is bold and berry-forward. Elderberry leads with a sweet-tart, deep berry richness — the cup brews to a striking ruby-purple color. Echinacea adds a distinctive prickly, herbal "zing" that is slightly tingly on the tongue — unmistakable if you have tasted echinacea before. Ginger brings a lively warmth, tulsi adds an earthy, clove-like depth, and stevia leaf finishes with a gentle natural sweetness. It is a layered, full-bodied cup with real herbal character.
What is echinacea, and why is it in this tea? Echinacea (Echinacea purpurea) is a purple-flowered herb, and this tea uses its root, leaf and flower. It was used by Native Americans for centuries before it became widely known across Europe. In this blend, it pairs with elderberry, another herb with deep roots in European folk herbalism, and gives the cup its prickly, slightly tingly edge.
Is this elderberry tea caffeine-free? Yes. This elderberry herbal tea is 100% herbal and naturally caffeine-free. It contains no green tea, black tea, or any caffeinated ingredients. You can enjoy it morning, afternoon, or evening.
When is the best time to drink this tea? Any time you want a bold, berry-forward cup. Many of our customers brew it most in fall and winter, and it is just as good iced in summer.
How is this different from other elderberry teas? It doesn't stop at elderberry. This blend pairs elderberry with echinacea and builds around the two with organic ginger root, tulsi (holy basil), and a touch of stevia leaf. There is no artificial flavoring: the berry depth, the echinacea zing, and the ginger warmth all come from the five organic ingredients themselves.
How should I brew this tea for the best experience? Pour freshly boiled water over one tea bag and steep for 5-7 minutes. For a bolder cup, steep 10+ minutes and gently squeeze the bag before removing. Our founder drinks it hot, once it has cooled enough to sip comfortably. The elderberry color blooms immediately — deep ruby-purple — and the flavor only deepens with time.
A Note from Herbal Cup
We hear it from a lot of people who know their herbs: they always want this tea. Elderberry has been celebrated in Europe for centuries, and echinacea is a purple flower that Native Americans were using long before Europe heard of it. We put the two together with ginger and tulsi because the cup they make is bold and full of flavor — sweet, sour, prickly from the echinacea, warm from the ginger. That flavor is why people keep a box in the cupboard.
