"Black pepper is the key — it's traditionally paired with turmeric in Ayurvedic practice to enhance absorption."
Hook
Elderberries are rich in anthocyanins — the antioxidant compounds that give the juice its intense blue-purple color, turning reddish on dilution with water. We combine them with refreshing spearmint leaves and slightly spicy ginger root to make a nutritious, flavorful cup. Dried elderberries have a sweet-tart taste that pairs beautifully with both mint and ginger.
Story
Elderberries (Sambucus) have been used as a healing food for centuries. Traditional uses involved berries, seeds, leaves and flowers — and they're also used in culinary traditions for crumbles, pies, jams, and liqueurs. The dried purple berries are rich in flavonoids, vitamins and minerals.
This blend pairs them with two herbs that play opposite roles:
- Organic Spearmint Leaves — softer than peppermint, with a smooth cooling finish.
- Organic Ginger Root — warming, slightly spicy, classic.
We add organic rosehips fruit for the citrusy-tart vitamin-C lift, organic hibiscus flowers for color and tartness, and a small amount of organic stevia leaves for a natural soft sweetness — no sugar, nothing artificial.
The result is elegant: tart, sweet, cool and warm, all in one cup.
What You'll Taste
🍇 First sip: Tart-sweet elderberry — deep, juicy, almost wild 🌿 Mid-palate: Cool spearmint and bright hibiscus 🌶️ Finish: Warming ginger and a gentle natural sweetness
Our customers' favorite add-ins: - Honey — pairs naturally with elderberry - Iced with mint sprig and lemon — beautiful for warm days - A slice of orange — extra brightness
How to Brew
Standard cup: Pour boiling water (200–212°F) over one tea bag. Steep 5–7 minutes — the color develops fast.
Stronger brew: Two bags or 10+ minutes for a deeper red-purple cup.
Hot toddy: Brew strong, add honey + fresh lemon. A favorite during cold-weather months.
Iced: Brew strong, cool, pour over ice with a sprig of mint. Stunning color, naturally cooling.

FAQ
What's the difference between elderberry and elderflower? Elderberry is the dried purple fruit; elderflower is the white blossom of the same plant (Sambucus). This blend uses the berries.
Is this tea caffeine-free? Yes. All ingredients are naturally caffeine-free.
Spearmint or peppermint? Spearmint — softer, gentler, with a smooth cooling finish.
Is the stevia adding sugar? No — stevia leaves are a whole-plant ingredient with no calories and no refined sugar. They lend a soft natural sweetness.
How is this different from Elderberry Turmeric Ginger? Same elderberry base. This one is brightened with mint and rosehips (cool, fruit-forward). The turmeric version is warmer and golden.
Founder's Note
"Sometimes opposites belong in the same cup. Cool spearmint and warm ginger anchor the elderberry from both sides — and the rosehips and hibiscus give it that color you can drink with your eyes first." — Founder of Herbal Cup Tea
