Japanese matcha and sencha green tea, sourced direct from Japan and paired with organic lemon peel. The brightness of citrus meets the steady, clean energy of matcha — refreshing hot or iced.
Why We Pair Matcha with Lemon
Matcha literally means "powdered tea." Sencha and matcha are both made from the same plant — Camellia sinensis — but the cultivation is different. Matcha leaves are shade-grown for weeks before harvest under cloth, which triggers the leaves to grow with better flavor and texture. They're hand-selected, briefly steamed to stop fermentation, aged in cold storage to deepen the flavor, and finally stone-ground into the bright powder that gives this tea its energy.
Sencha is the most popular green tea in Japan. The flavor of sencha steeped from quality green tea leaf is bright, refreshing, and uplifting — and like all green tea it naturally contains catechins (a type of polyphenol).
The lemon peel is real — actual organic peel, dried — not flavoring. Lemon adds a refreshing zest to tea and a slight tangy taste that combines beautifully with smooth matcha and sencha.
What Matcha Lemon Green Tea Tastes Like
🍵 First sip: Bright, vegetal sencha — clean and uplifting 🍋 Mid-palate: Real lemon peel zest — tangy, never sour ✨ Finish: Smooth matcha umami — softens and lingers
Our customers' favorite add-ins:
- Honey or a drizzle of agave — softens the lemon
- Iced with a fresh lemon slice — peak summer
- A few mint leaves — brightens further
How to Brew Matcha Lemon Green Tea (Hot or Iced)
Standard cup: Heat water to 175–185°F (just under boiling). Steep one tea bag 3–5 minutes. Gently agitate to release the matcha powder.
Stronger brew: Two bags or up to 7 minutes — but watch the temperature; matcha doesn't love full boil.
Iced lemon matcha: Brew strong, cool, pour over ice with extra lemon. The cleanest summer drink.
Matcha lemon spritz: Brew strong, top with sparkling water and a slice of lemon. Refreshing and bright.

Matcha Lemon Green Tea — FAQ
Does this tea contain caffeine? Yes. Matcha and sencha are both green teas (Camellia sinensis) and naturally contain caffeine. The amount is moderate — less than coffee, more than chamomile.
Where is the matcha from? Both matcha and sencha in this blend are sourced from Japan, where matcha cultivation has been refined for centuries.
Is the lemon peel real? Yes — organic dried lemon peel, not "lemon flavoring."
What's the difference between this and Matcha Ginger Green Tea? Same matcha + sencha base. This one is brightened with lemon peel for a lighter, citrus-forward cup. The ginger version is warmer with a peppery finish.
Can I drink this iced? Absolutely. Brew strong and pour over ice with a fresh lemon slice — one of the cleanest iced green teas you'll find.
Is this a lemon matcha tea? Yes — it's an organic matcha lemon green tea (also searched as a lemon matcha tea, matcha tea with lemon, matcha green tea with lemon, or matcha green tea and lemon). Japanese matcha and sencha green tea with real organic lemon peel — bright hot or iced.
Founder's Note
"Lemon and matcha is one of those combinations I didn't grow up with — but the moment I tried it, it made sense. The lemon brightens everything and lets the smooth umami of the matcha come forward. We use real peel because it's the only way." — Founder of Herbal Cup Tea
