Hook
Most echinacea teas stop at echinacea — maybe add a berry, call it done. This USDA Organic, caffeine-free Ayurvedic blend layers echinacea with elderberry, tulsi, coriander, and fennel into a cold-season cup with the kind of botanical complexity you simply cannot find anywhere else.
Story
There are many echinacea teas on the market. Most of them are one-dimensional — echinacea and maybe one or two other things. We wanted something with more depth. Something with layers.
We start with echinacea — a botanical that has been part of herbal traditions for centuries, long before it appeared in capsules and supplements. Then we add elderberries, which bring their own deep history and a rich, dark character to the cup. But here is where this tea goes somewhere different from everything else on the shelf.
We add tulsi.
Tulsi — holy basil — is considered a sacred herb in India. For thousands of years, it was kept only in Indian temples. It was not a kitchen herb. It was not something casual. It carried that level of reverence. And in Ayurvedic tradition, tulsi has always been one of the most important botanicals — a cornerstone herb with a flavor that is herbaceous, slightly peppery, and unlike anything else in Western tea.
Then we put coriander and fennel into the blend. Coriander adds a warm, citrusy depth. Fennel brings a gentle anise sweetness that softens the whole cup. Together with the echinacea, the elderberry, and the tulsi, you get something that is genuinely layered — a tea that reveals new notes with every sip, crafted specifically for the colder months when you want a cup that feels like it has real substance and intention behind it.
If you know our Elderberry Echinacea tea, you know that blend is bolder, more direct — elderberry and echinacea leading, a simpler profile. This one is the Ayurvedic counterpart. More herbs. More complexity. More tradition woven into the formula. This is the one for people who want depth.
What You'Ll Taste
🌿 First sip: Herbaceous echinacea with a distinctive botanical tingle on the tongue, softened by the gentle anise sweetness of fennel 🫐 Mid-palate: Dark, berry-rich elderberry emerges, layered with the warm, peppery-clove character of tulsi and the citrusy depth of coriander ✨ Finish: A clean, lingering warmth — fennel sweetness, a whisper of tulsi spice, and a smooth herbal close that stays with you
Tasting notes: herbal echinacea tingle · dark elderberry · peppery tulsi · warm coriander · soft fennel sweetness · layered botanical finish
Our customers' favorite add-ins:
- Honey — rounds the herbaceous notes and brings out the elderberry sweetness
- A squeeze of lemon — brightens the coriander and tulsi into something crisp and aromatic
- Nothing at all — this blend is already complex enough to stand on its own; try it plain first
- A slice of fresh ginger — if you want extra warmth on a truly cold day
How To Brew
Standard cup (cold-season ritual): Pour freshly boiled water (200-212°F) over one tea bag. Steep 5-7 minutes. The fennel and elderberry come forward first; the tulsi and coriander deepen as the steep continues. Leave the tea bag in your cup for a fuller, more layered experience.
Stronger brew: Use two bags or steep 10+ minutes. Gently press the tea bag with a spoon before removing to extract every last bit of the botanical blend. Herbal teas never turn bitter — they only get richer, and this particular blend rewards patience.
our founder's cold-season ritual: Steep one bag in boiling water for 7-10 minutes. Gently squeeze the bag. Drink it as warm as possible — the warmth is part of the experience. Add honey if you wish, but taste it plain first. The layers of flavor reveal themselves better without sweetener. This is your cup for the colder months — slow down and let it do its work.
Iced version (late-season transition): Brew two bags in a small amount of hot water for 10 minutes. Let cool. Pour over ice. The fennel becomes beautifully crisp, the elderberry darkens into something almost juice-like, and the tulsi adds an unexpected aromatic note that makes this unlike any iced herbal tea you have tried.

Faq
What does Echinacea Elderberry Tulsi Tea taste like? The first thing you notice is the herbaceous, slightly tingly character of echinacea, softened by the gentle anise sweetness of fennel. Then elderberry comes through — dark and rich. The mid-palate is where the Ayurvedic depth emerges: tulsi adds a peppery, clove-like warmth, and coriander brings a citrusy spice note. The finish is clean, smooth, and lingering. It is a layered cup that rewards attention — very different from a simple, one-note echinacea tea.
How is this different from the Elderberry Echinacea tea (#19)? Our Elderberry Echinacea is a bolder, more direct blend — elderberry and echinacea lead, the profile is sweet-tart and berry-forward. This Echinacea Elderberry Tulsi Tea adds tulsi, coriander, and fennel for a more complex, spice-driven, Ayurvedic-rooted experience. Think of #19 as the straightforward choice and this one as the connoisseur's blend — more herbs, more layers, more tradition behind the formula.
What is tulsi, and why is it in this tea? Tulsi — also called holy basil — is a sacred herb in Indian tradition. For thousands of years, it was kept only in Indian temples and treated with deep reverence. In Ayurvedic practice, tulsi is one of the most important botanicals. Its flavor is herbaceous, slightly peppery, and faintly clove-like — it adds a dimension to this blend that no Western herb can replicate.
Is this tea caffeine-free? Yes. This is a 100% herbal blend — naturally caffeine-free. You can enjoy it any time of day, including the evening.
When is the best time to drink this tea? It was crafted for the colder months — autumn and winter, when you want a cup with real warmth and substance. Many of our customers make it a daily ritual from the first cold snap through spring. That said, it is caffeine-free and can be enjoyed any time of year.
How should I brew this tea for the best experience? Pour freshly boiled water over one tea bag and steep for 5-10 minutes. The longer you steep, the more the tulsi and coriander emerge. Leave the bag in your cup for maximum depth. Gently squeeze before removing. Best enjoyed as warm as possible — our founder recommends trying it plain first to appreciate the full complexity of the blend.
FOUNDER'S NOTE
"We make this one with echinacea, with elderberries, also with tulsi leaves, and we also put some coriander inside there, also some fennel. Echinacea has been used in herbal tradition for ages — it is one of the oldest herbs that people have turned to. And tulsi is a sacred herb. In India, tulsi was only allowed in Indian temples. That is the level of reverence it carries. When you combine echinacea and elderberry with tulsi, coriander, and fennel — you get something with real depth. This is not a simple tea. This is an Ayurvedic formulation, crafted for the colder months, with layers that you will discover over many cups." — Founder of Herbal Cup Tea
